Cheesy Sausage Bake

Here is my nod to the old classic of Mac and Cheese with Hot dogs. This recipe seriously takes me back to my childhood. This goes great with any vegetable, but I prefer it with a fresh salad, since it is on the heavier side with all that glorious cheese! My husband loves this meal, and the leftovers are really good too! Definitely a family friendly meal.

Prep time: 20 minutes
Cook tine: 20 minutes
Yield: 8 Servings

Ingredients:
  • 16 oz package of Large Macaroni Noodles, cooked
  • 3 Tbsp Butter
  • 1/4 cup Flour
  • 1 tsp Salt
  • 1/4 tsp Pepper
  • 1/2 tsp Garlic Powder
  • 2 cups Milk
  • 1/2 cup Parmesan Cheese, Grated
  • 3/4 cup Mozzarella Cheese, Shredded
  • 1 1/2 cup Precooked Smoked Sausage, sliced
Cooking Directions:
  1. Over medium heat, melt butter in medium sauce pan. Remove from heat and add flour, salt, pepper, and garlic powder. Mix well until smooth.
  2. Slowly add milk, stirring constantly. Replace on medium to high heat, and bring to a boil (STIR CONSTANTLY) for approximately 10 minutes or until the sauce starts to thicken.
  3. Remove from heat and mix in Parmesan and Mozzarella cheese. Stir until cheeses are completely melted.
  4. Preheat oven to 350°F. Coat 9 x 13 inch casserole dish with non-stick spray. Place COOKED macaroni noodles in dish. Cover with cheese sauce and stir in smoked sausage. Top with any leftover cheese and some parsley (fresh or dried).
  5. Place in preheated oven and bake for 20 minutes.
